Opera
le¶na est aujourd'hui le symbole indéniable de Sopot ainsi
que le monument de la chanson polonaise. L'édifice actuel
ne rapplle en rien celui de ses débuts. Cette vallée forestie
de chambre a l'acoustique naturelle parfaite fut remarquée
des la fin XIX s. Durant la Haute saison, les baigneurs
se promenaient volontiers jusqu'ici pour écouter les solistes
qui s'y exerçaient a l'occasion. En 1909, on bâtit le premier
édifice pour des spectacles professionnels. Et c'est ici
que se déroulaient les célebres festivals wagnériens. Apres
la guerre, on le modernisa a plusieurs reprises, surtout
du point de vue de son adaptation aux transmissions télévisuelles.
L'évenement fut, en 1961, la construction du premier toit
léger en matieres plastiques a l'intention 5000 spectateurs.
Il est, maintenant, entierement remodernisé et les qualités
naturelles d'antan ne sont ni véritables ni connues.

Earlier,
in the 70s and 80s, the participants and stars performing
at the festival included: Charles Aznavour, Shirley Bassey,
Boby Solo, The Temptations, Boney M, Johnny Cash, Jose Feliciano,
Alison Moyet, Marillion, Paul Young.
Thanks to the International Song Festival,
each year the Forest Opera is an attraction of the Sopot
summer and thanks to the live broadcast, for a few days
each year it is the centre of attention throughout Poland.
"Sopot Festival" - one of the oldest song contests
in Europe, celebrated its 35th jubilee in 1998. For many
years now the unique scenery of the Forest Opera in Sopot
has been a background to performances by representatives
of various styles and genres of pop music.
